Rating4.3 / 5.0

ASUS Z790-AYW WiFi W II Intel Z790 LGA 1700 ATX is a motherboard pick for Intel 12th-14th Gen builds with DDR5 and overclocking.

Components Opponents treats this as more than a spec-sheet entry: we cross-check the product against Manufacturer manuals and chipset specifications, BIOS support pages and memory QVL listings, VRM thermal and power-delivery testing from established review outlets, and verified-builder feedback before placing it in comparisons. The goal is to separate parts that merely look strong on paper from parts that make sense inside a real build.

For this review, the important checkpoints are LGA 1700 socket compatibility, Z790 chipset I/O, VRM quality and thermal headroom, memory QVL coverage, PCIe lane allocation, M.2 slot count, rear I/O, and BIOS maturity. The headline spec is LGA 1700, Z790, but the buying decision also depends on case form-factor fit, CPU power requirements, expansion needs, and long-term platform support. That is why the recommendation is framed around build fit rather than a single benchmark number.

Best fit: Intel 12th-14th Gen builds with DDR5 and overclocking.

What to verify before buying: LGA 1700 is end-of-life — good for existing Intel CPU upgrades. Also confirm dimensions, firmware/platform support, warranty terms, and seller return policy for the exact model you add to cart.
